Life Story for Luella Jean Graves

Luella Jean Graves
Luella Jean Graves, 88, of Springfield went home to be with her Lord unexpectedly on January 2, 2018. She was born August 4, 1929 to Jacob and Tillie (Hager) Maier in Eureka, SD where she grew up.

She married her loving husband Dick on March 28, 1959 and they moved to Springfield in 1975 for his employment with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. They were married for 17 years before his passing in 1976. To this union they were blessed with 2 children Renee and Roger.

Luella was active in Messiah Lutheran Church for over 40 years singing in their choir for many of those years and she also traveled and performed with Sweet Adelines. She volunteered at Mercy every Friday for many many years. She loved her family, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, LA Lakers Basketball, MSU Lady Bears Basketball and bowling.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Dick and her sister Mary Jane Thomas.

Left to mourn her passing is her children: Renee and husband Tomas Hinojosa of Reno, NV, Roger and wife Darlene Graves of Hannibal, MO; Grandchildren: Phillip, Natalie, Patrick Hinojosa and Rachel Graves; Niece: Michelle Smith; Special Friends: Bill Roberts and Irene Chaloupecky and a host of family and friends. Luella will be greatly missed by all whose life had been touched by hers.
