Donald "Don" Jones
Donald "Don" Wesley Jones, 87 peacefully entered heaven's gates on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Don was born in Plattsburg, MO on April 24, 1929 to Jefferson and Susie Jones (both deceased). Don lived most of his life in Plattsburg, MO on the family farm. He relocated to Nixa, MO to be close to his daughter Linda and her family in 2008 after the passing of his wife, Carla. He was a resident of the Gardens Independent Living Apartments.

Don enjoyed life to the fullest and made an impact on so many people. He will be greatly missed by many family & friends. He loved his family and was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend that made you smile and share a story. He was a farmer, drove a truck as a Teamster for Everett Quarries, Hunt Midwest in KC, retired and drove a shuttle for Alamo at the KC airport. Once moving to Nixa, he volunteered for Cox Hospital by delivering flowers to patients, and delivered meals for the senior citizen center in Nixa. Don was a Korean War Purple Heart recipient in the US Army, and a veteran that loved this country! He honored our flag and was a image of patriotism. He loved sharing war stories with young people, and his friends. His highlights included marriage of 50 years to Carla Blevins Jones, Purple Heart recipient, 50 years in the Masonic Lodge, Honor flight to Washington, DC with his son-in law Jeff, and traveling the US, Switzerland, Germany and Canada. He was a member of Glenstone Baptist Church in Springfield, MO, and Broadway United Methodist in Plattsburg, MO. Everyone who knew him would say he was all heart. "A kind, loving, brave, selfless man with a dose of onryness!"

Don was preceded in death by his beautiful, loving wife, Carla B Jones and brother Jeff Jones of Plattsburg, Mo. He leaves behind a loving family in Nixa, MO, daughter Linda Merkling (Jeffery), proud grandson Bradley Merkling. Daughter Alice Beauchamp, 2 grandsons of Indiana, special friend Donna Sexton of Springfield, MO, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving staff & friends at the Gardens.
