Carol Ann Avery
Carol Ann Griffey Avery age 76 of Springfield, baptized into Christ, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:09p.m. Sunday April 2nd, 2017. Born September 23, 1940 in Joplin, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Sam Griffey and Evelyn Carlock Johnson. She graduated from Joplin High school in 1958. Carol went on to work for The Joplin Globe newspaper, and the Democrat News in Marshall, MO. She moved to Springfield in 1976 and was employed by Coonrod and Worley Ins. Agency for many years, as well as working for Judge Calvin Holden.
Carol is Survived by three sons, Steve Jay and wife Sandy of Florida, Randy Jay and wife Robin of Springfield and Gary Avery of Springfield. Four grandchildren Brandy, Stevie, Anna, Ben and three great grandchildren. A sister Linda Jenkins and nephew Nathaniel Jenkins of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by Maxine Murray, Diane Dame, Mabel Herndon, Dorothy Carlock and Richard Johnson. Also for 19 years her best animal friend ever (Toni) the dog. Love to Becky, Bruce, Haley, and Zak/ Gail, Joel, Joey, and Andy/ Mike, Vicki, Mika, Courtney, and John Tyler. Special Friends Katy, Dee, Gail, Fran, Dan and Patti and Pam.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6th, 2017 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel (5234 W. State HWY EE). Services will be officiated by Pastor Tony Gentry on Friday at 2:00p.m. April 7th, 2017 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
